Creality believes in the artist’s capacity to augment their experience of daily reality. Using technology, they can dare to explore further, overcoming limitations of their analogue world. Become more intelligent by relying on intelligent machines to collaborate with others.

I am interested in what it means to be a jazz composer in the digital age. Opportunities to experiment with different samples and recordings using computer software have opened up a whole new world of possibilities and soundscapes to me. But you also have to know when to stop relying on artificial intelligence and bring in the human dimension. Mika Krstić from LA showed me how to balance the clean and lean digital sound with a human swag. All of a sudden, a life force poured into my demos and I knew I had found a formula for my second album.

I started exploring the role of technology because as a jazz musician without formal education I wasn’t confident enough in my ability to do traditional jazz composition. The use of software has built up my confidence as a creator, and allowed me to feed these new imaginaries to my band members so that they can also step out of their comfort zones. Creality is an exhibition of how far we have come in this process of letting our musical development be influenced by artificial intelligence.
